Honors recital features Bliss, Fichter, Staudinger and Wilz
The Department of Music at Dickinson State University will hold its second annual Student Honors Recital on March 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Stickney Auditorium, May Hall.
Faculty selected participants based on their fall jury performances, academic achievements, and service to the department. Honor performers will include vocalists Rachelle Bliss, Damon Fichter, Mariah Wilz, and pianist Jayln Staudinger.
Rachelle Bliss, junior, is a composite music education major with focuses on vocals and clarinet. Bliss is involved in Chorale, Chamber Singers, Clarinet Ensemble and Concert Band at the University, and is president of the Dickinson State chapter of the National Association of Music Education (NAfME). Bliss is a native of Dickinson, N.D.
Damon Fichter, junior, is a music major with an emphasis on vocals and is minoring in theater and leadership. Fichter is currently the treasurer of NAfME, a Best Friends Program mentor, and a member of both University Players and Form and Fusion Dance. This summer Fichter will be joining the cast of Burning Hills Singers cast in the Medora Musical. Fichter is a native of Dickinson, N.D.
Jalyn Staudinger is a sophomore majoring in music and psychology. Her primary focus is piano performance. Staudinger participates in Chorale, Chamber Singers, and is secretary of the Dickinson State chapter of NAfME. She is actively involved in Chi Alpha Campus Missions. Staudinger is a native of Richardton, N.D.
Mariah Wilz, junior, is a music education major. Wilz is active in band, choir, and Chamber Singers and is a member of NAfME. Additionally, Wilz is involved in Catholic Campus Ministries, Student Ambassadors, International Club and the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program. Wilz is a native of Killdeer, N.D.
