DICKINSON, N.D. – Community members ages 14 and older are invited to join the Dickinson State University Choral Union for its second annual summer season.

The non-audition rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2 and run through August at DSU’s May Hall, 291 Campus Dr. Singers will rehearse weekly in preparation for a Hits from Broadway and Television concert featuring melodies from The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Camelot and more. Ensemble members may also showcase their vocal talents with solos during many pieces.

Although the Choral Union’s summer concert is new, the group has a 60-year tradition of performing holiday music and singing Handel’s Messiah. Nearly 40 community members participated in the first free summer concert during 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, said Joel Walters, a piano instructor and director of the ensemble.

“We were very pleased with the community support of our season last year and hope more people attend these fun and interactive rehearsals,” he said.
