Dr. Brian Holder serves as an Adjunct Professor of Music at Dickinson State University, where he teaches applied percussion and directs the university percussion ensemble.  He has been a faculty member at Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, and has taught a variety of courses in music history, world music, popular music, and music performance.  Dr. Holder has been a featured performer at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and performs as both a classical and jazz percussionist.  In 2007 he was honored to premiere Jennifer Higdon’s “somewhere I have traveled, gladly beyond” with the Orlando Chorale.  His publications can be found in the journals of the Society for American Music, the Percussive Arts Society, the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, as well as the journals Tempo and Notes.  Dr. Holder and his wife are also professional public school music educators, with teaching positions in Buffalo, SD and Bowman, ND respectively.  Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Holder serves as the assistant director of the Bowman Community Chorus.
