GREETINGS FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
DR. JON L. BRUDVIG

Welcome to Dickinson State’s Web Page and the Academic Affairs link. Dickinson State, established in 1918, is proud of its well-deserved reputation as an excellent student-centered university where faculty, staff, and administrators are committed to helping you realize your dreams. At Dickinson State we take pride in our relevant and responsive courses of study designed to help students develop the skills necessary to engage and flourish in a rapidly changing and interconnected world. Dedicated faculty have been proactive in forging new collaborative partnerships designed to help students maximize their potential as future employees, leaders, entrepreneurs, and responsible global citizens. At DSU, we prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities.

Having been accredited since 1946 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central (regional) Accrediting Association, DSU is currently enjoying 10 years of full accreditation by the Commission, the maximum awarded to any institution. The Teacher Education Program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and both levels of our nursing program, associate and bachelor’s degrees, are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and approved by the North Dakota State Board of Nursing. The Music Program is recognized for its quality through the National Association of the Schools for Music. Our business graduates consistently out-perform peer institutions on their ETS major field exit exams. The Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, affiliated with the National Collegiate Honors Council, has earned a national reputation for high levels of student engagement and scholarship. These accreditations by national agencies and program-specific achievements attest to the quality and strength of DSU’s academic programs.

A university achieves greatness due in large part to the quality of its faculty. Over 75% of our faculty possess doctorate or terminal degrees with credentials from some of the top research universities in the nation. In fact, faculty in several departments across campus are nationally regarded authorities in their respective disciplines. Students who attend Dickinson State have the opportunity to study and collaborate with these distinguished faculty members in a supportive student-centered learning environment. The physical plant of Dickinson State is modern and comfortable. Recent renovations to the Student Center, Klinefelter Hall, Murphy Hall Science Building, and Stickney Hall are noteworthy for improving the quality of our students’ educational experience. Stoxen Library, home to the nationally-recognized Theodore Roosevelt Center and Digital Library, is completely automated and the up-to-date computer facilities provide more student access than larger universities can. With more than 50 separate major and 62 minor programs, you will certainly find a course of study that will be just right for you at DSU, a full service university. The final proof of our academic quality is the excellent placement success that our students enjoy after graduating. In addition, 14% of our graduates continue their education at some the nation’s premier institutions in the fields of medicine, physical therapy, nursing, business, law, and education to name a few. So, if what you want is a quality education in a safe and engaging learning environment, please consider attending Dickinson State University where you can “Prepare to be great!”
