Welcome to the Department of Teacher Education. We are looking to work with individuals who have a heartbeat for children and a passion for learning. The profession of teaching is a most noble one,- touching lives far into the future. At Dickinson State University, we are excited to have been approved to offer graduate courses that can be used for continuing teacher education or transfer to other institutions. 

Dickinson State has a Legacy of Excellence. Originally founded in 1918 as a teaching college, Dickinson State University has built a reputation of training teachers who are well equipped for the classroom.  Graduate courses include study in the areas of: educational research, technology, educational foundations, curriculum development and design, and cultural diversity. 

Teachers as Reflective Decision-Makers.  The primary goal and mission of DSU’s Teacher Education Program continues to involve helping you become an effective decision-maker  that is able to base decisions on a well-developed philosophy of education.  We carefully mentor our students. Our students express their gratitude toward our faculty and staff about how personally they are cared for in our program

Application Requirements:   To be eligible for graduate courses at Dickinson State University, a bachelor’s degree and full admission to DSU as a graduate student is required.   Click here to access your online application.

Dickinson State University is also the home of the West River Teacher Center.  The WRTC is a member of the North Dakota Teacher Center Network and provides professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers, administrators, and support staff in eight counties of Southwestern North Dakota.
