Yuletyme

A Holiday Tradition
December 12, 2009

Yuletyme celebrates Canada in 2009

In honor of the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver, Yuletyme 2009 will celebrate the sights, sounds and culture of Canada this December. Yuletyme serves as an annual fundraiser for the Dickinson State University Foundation and the Alumni Association. Proceeds from Yuletyme are used to fund student scholarships, along with activities sponsored by the Dickinson State University Foundation and the Dickinson State University Alumni Association. The event promises to be a fun, formal gala for people to celebrate friendships and invite philanthropy.

Yuletyme festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Days Hotel - Grand Dakota Lodge Dickinson. Guests will be greeted with captivating Canadian decorations and music during the one and a half hour social. Over 60 items with more than $25,000 combined value will be donated by alumni and friends of the university and will be featured during the silent and live auctions.

Each year, the menu for Yuletyme features foods from a particular region or country. This year’s menu will feature food from Canada and will include appetizers, dinner and dessert. The meal is prepared and served at each home by the University (Sodexho) Food Service, under the guidance of Jason Degele.

After dinner, guests will be returned to the Days Hotel for dessert, dancing and a live auction. The auction will start at approximately 10:30 p.m. Dance music for the evening will be provided by the Dickinson State University Jazz Band.

This year’s Yuletyme will again feature the “Blue and Gray.” Patrons will be provided a paddle during the live action. Once the event begins, those participating will choose whether their paddle is blue or gray and a toss of the Blue and Gray coin will determine if you advance to the next round. There will be several rounds of the Blue and Gray Paddle and the winner at the end of the event will be awarded a cash prize.

Yuletyme promises to be a fun and enjoyable evening for all. The Yuletyme committee is appreciative to all the volunteers, host home members and businesses who continue to make the tradition of Yuletyme such a great event.
