The Dickinson State University intercollegiate athletic program is one of the most successful in the Midwest.

Offering a broad range of sports, Dickinson State has a tradition of developing outstanding student-athletes who are winners in their competitive academic and athletic endeavors.

Our athletic teams are affiliated with the eight-member Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA).

The Blue Hawks compete in football, volleyball, men and women’s cross-country, men and women’s basketball, wrestling, men and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, men and women’s golf, baseball, softball and men and women’s rodeo.

Dickinson State athletics enjoyed another outstanding school year in 2008-09. The Blue Hawks captured Dakota Athletic Conference championships in football, women’s basketball, indoor and outdoor men’s track and field, softball and baseball. In softball, Dickinson State won the DAC Tournament for the fourth year in a row and headed into the NAIA playoffs for the third straight year. The Blue Hawks reached the “elite eight for the third consecutive year, and in 09 they finished 3rd overall nationally.The Blue Hawk wrestling team won the North Region tournament for the third time in four years.

Dickinson State’s men’s track team finished second at the NAIA national meet, and now boasts three national titles and four runner-up finishes in the last seven years. Four times in the last six seasons, Dickinson State has won the DAC Commissioner’s Cup, which is given annually to the top athletic department in the conference.2009 marks an exciting new time for the Blue Hawk football squad as they will be competing in the new Badlands Activity Center this fall. When completed in the spring of 2010, the BAC will be the finest on-campus facility in North Dakota with seating for more than 3000 guests, luxury suites, state-of-the-art video scoreboard, sprint turf field, an 8-lane track and locker rooms accommodating DSU and both Dickinson and Trinity High Schools.Dickinson State provides excellent coaches, trainers, and athletic administrators who have one goal in mind -- to see student-athletes reach their fullest potential.
