Virtuoso lead guitarist Daryl Stuermer of the super-group Genesis and Phil Collins has been touring the world to sold-out crowds since 1978, creating the signature guitar sound of the Phil Collins mega hits “In the Air Tonight” and “Easy Lover.” As co-writer of the Phil Collins 1989 Grammy Award Winning, Billboard No. 4 single “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven,” Stuermer continues to write music for his eight solo albums of original music and cover his favorite Genesis vocals and instrumentals along the way. His new band, Daryl Stuermer-Genesis Rewired, is an exciting fusion of Stuermer’s unique Genesis renditions, creating an unforgettable evening that reinvents the Genesis experience.

Description:
This year marks the fifth annual Theodore Roosevelt Symposium at Dickinson State University. Our focus is Roosevelt’s presidency from September 14, 1901, to March 4, 1909.
Roosevelt suddenly ascended to the presidency (upon the assassination of William McKinley in September 1901) at a time when we were making the difficult transition from a rural, essentially Jeffersonian, nation to an urban, industrial, and imperial giant. He led, sometimes dragged, the nation forward into the world arena with as much dynamism and joy as anyone has ever brought to America’s highest office.
This symposium will look at Roosevelt’s presidency from a number of perspectives: the changing nature of the presidency in the post-Civil War period; Roosevelt’s attitudes and policies towards the other nations of the Western Hemisphere; Roosevelt’s fascinating, complex, and often troubling race relations; Roosevelt’s presidential travels; Roosevelt’s expansive definition of presidential power.
Lectures and panel discussions are free. Registration of $170 (or $130 before September 1) is required for meals and the Saturday field trip to Medora.
