Accounting
Club
An organization which advocates and supports students pursuing accounting as a profession.

Agriculture
Club
The primary purpose of the Agriculture Club is to develop agricultural leadership
and promote agriculture on local, state, and national levels. The club stresses
development of character, citizenship, and patriotism. It also attempts to coordinate
a closer relationship between students and future employers. All Dickinson State
students
with a close tie to agriculture may join.

Art
Club
The purpose of Art Club is to offer students experience in applied art activities
(advertising design, illustration, sign painting, etc.). By participating in
work-related experiences in the visual arts, students explore the relationship
between art and commerce. Through involvement in projects for pay (and community
service projects), the group earns income which allows the offering of either
a low-cost cultural tour to a major city selected by the members or studio
workshops conducted by professional artists. Other activities include speakers,
discussions, and social events. Any student may join.

Business
Club
The Business Club provides opportunities for students to develop mutually beneficial
relationships with the business community. Speakers are invited to share their
knowledge and experience with students. Business tours are arranged so that students may
learn about the organizational structure and growth of entities that may offer
potential employment opportunities.

Cheerleaders
The Cheerleaders are a group of students who promote school spirit and participation
in intercollegiate athletics. This group cheers at all football and basketball
contests. Try outs for this squad are conducted once each semester. Participants
can receive academic, physical education credit for their involvement.

Chess Club
The purpose of this club is to promote positive social interaction, intellectual stimulation, and the opportunity for the entire DSU community to participate in the great game of Chess.

Chorale
Dickinson State University
Chorale
is the principal vocal ensemble on campus. The group performs
choral literature from Renaissance to contemporary. Participants
are offered one hour of academic credit and meet three
times per week. The Chorale appears in concert at least
once each semester and takes frequent tours.

Choral Union
The Choral Union is a large choral ensemble comprised of University students
and interested singers from the tri-state region. This ensemble rehearses
Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. beginning
in late September or early October. The term culminates with a performance
featuring Handel's Messiah in early December. Participation is open
to any interested singer.

Circle K
The objects of this organization is to emphasize the advantages of democratic life, provide leadership training in service, encourage participation in group activities, promote good fellowship and high scholarship, to improve all human relationships and to afford useful training in the social graces and personality development.

Collegiate
4-H
This group is open to all Dickinson State University students that have an interest in 4-H
ideals and public service. Through
our goals of service, leadership, and personal development, we will work toward
achieving a single, greater goal: to make the best better.

College Republicans
The goals of the College Republicans are to inform the University community
of local, state and national issues as they pertain to the G.O.P. and to
encourage student involvement in the Republican Party.
Color Guard
This Color Guard works closely with the Marching
Band to perform at the home football games. The
group uses teamwork to choreograph the flag and dance routines
and learn the different techniques involved in the performance. Anyone who is interested in being
in the squad can join. The
Color Guard meets three times per week until the football season
is over.

Concert Band
This group meets three times per week to prepare music for concerts and tours.
Requirements include the student's having performed in high school organizations
and possessing a willingness to work with a great group of students. The
individual need not be a music major or minor to
participate in this group.

English Club
This organization provides a forum for the discussion of literature and promotes
social interaction through other informal activities such as movies, poetry
readings and coffeehouse discussion groups. The English Club works with the
Department of Language and Literature to promote and sponsor visiting scholars
invited to
Dickinson
State

The English Club actively interacts with fellow collegiate departments in
North
Dakota
, as well.
Filmmakers

Friends of Internationals
The purpose of this organization is to meet the unique physical, social, and spiritual needs of international students who attend DSU and to build relationships between American and international students on the DSU campus.
Global Leadership Club
The purpose of this club is to provide opportunities for students at DSU to develop their leadership skills through educational, intercultural and humanitarian programs.
GSA – Gay, Straight Alliance
A partnership of students, faculty and
staff that meets routinely to discuss differences and to foster
a community of tolerance through education and dialogue.

Requirements for this group include the performance of an instrument used in
jazz band: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drum, bass, guitar, or piano. The

League of Political Scientists
The purpose of this organization is to promote and generate interest within its membership in the many facets of the study of government politics, and the methodology by which it is analyzed, and determine its relevance to contemporary American Society.
Lions Club
A campus-based service organization connected to the international Lions Club that provides community support and service in various philanthropic projects and community-wide programs. Volunteering in community events and programs is a major part of the Lions Club efforts.
Music Teachers Association
The organization will provide educational, musical, social and professional experiences that put the student’s course of study in the real life situation, show students professional opportunities and career options in the field of music and help develop professional leadership skills.

Pep Band
This instrumental group performs for home football and basketball games. It
is made up of players from the concert band. There is, at present, a $100
stipend per semester for playing in this group.

Club
The purposes of the club are to conduct wholesome activities in horsemanship
for recreation and entertainment, to promote our western heritage through activities
sponsored for the campus and community, and to support a competing team in
National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association competition.

Speech and Debate Society
The purpose of this organization is to develop student’s skills in public speaking, advocacy, rhetoric, logic and argumentation. The society will also help increase students’ awareness and critical evaluation of current political, social, economic and cultural issues while preparing students to enter the world as strong leaders and effective communicators.
Student Ambassadors
This group exists to promote and strengthen the University. The Ambassadors
provide services, programs and activities designed to foster a stronger relationship
among students, the University, and the Alumni Association. Membership is
by nomination from the faculty and administration, followed by an interview
process.

Student Inter Tribal Organization
Student Inter Tribal Organization was formed to promote Native American awareness to the campus community, Dickinson, and surrounding communities. The organization is open to anyone who has a willingness to learn about different cultures but is structured to be a support system for any students indigenous to the America ’s. The organization meets weekly to learn Arts and Craftwork of Native Peoples, and bi-monthly for regular organization officer and member meetings to discuss issues relevant to the diverse campus population.

Senate is responsible for protecting the students interests
dividing up student dollars, and also representing the

Students Other Than Average (S.O.T.A.)
Not all university students are between the ages of 18 and 21. S.O.T.A. was
formed to offer a resource for a large percentage of the DSU student population
who happen to be non-traditional students. This group meets the first and third Monday of every month at 12:00 noon and discusses issues relevant to the needs of a diverse campus population.

University Players
The club exists to promote the theatre arts within the University and community of southwest North Dakota . The Players also serve to encourage student participation in the theatre arts and enrich the existing DSU Theatre Department.

The goals of the young Democrats are to inform the University community of
state and local issues, assist individuals to become involved in the democratic
system of government, and promote candidates who share the same or similar
political ideology as the Democratic Party on all levels of government.

Impressions
Impressions, Dickinson State University's
literary magazine, is printed and published periodically.
The purpose is to give students the opportunity to display
their creativity by publishing artistic, photo, and written
entries.
The Western Concept is the only student newspaper at Dickinson State University. It is run and managed by students. The Student Publications Board, comprised of students and a non-voting faculty/staff member, is authorized to hire the Editor and the Business Manager who, in turn, are responsible for publications. It is only available on-line.

Mu Phi Epsilon
Founded in 1903, Mu Phi Epsilon is an international
fraternity in the professional field. Its purposes are the recognition of scholarship
and musicianship and the promotion of friendship within its membership. Its
aims are the advancement of music in America and
throughout the world; the promotion of musicianship and scholarship and of
loyalty to the Alma Mater; and the development of true and lasting musical
fellowship.
Music Educators' National Conference (M.E.N.C)
The purpose of this collegiate membership is to afford students an opportunity
for professional orientation and development while still in school. Benefits
accrue to students and to the professional organization as the students gain
an understanding of the philosophy and function of the music education profession.

Students Association
Nursing Students Association is a campus-based pre-professional organization
that prepares members for involvement in professional associations such as
the American Nurses' Association and National League for Nursing. Membership
is open to all individuals enrolled in or planning to enter the Dickinson State
nursing
programs.

Omicron-Psi
Omicron-Psi is a national honor society established
to recognize those non-traditional students who have maintained a high grade
point average, are involved with community and campus activities, and demonstrate
leadership qualities while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Phi Eta Sigma
Phi Eta Sigma is the nation's oldest freshman honor
society. To be inducted, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average
and have completed one semester at Dickinson State.
Pi Kappa Delta
Pi Kappa Delta is a national honorary speech fraternity. Membership in the fraternity is lifelong and is offered to honor all students involved in forensic competition. Dickinson State’s membership in this organization creates an additional opportunity for national competition.
Pi Lambda Theta
Pi Lambda Theta is an honor and professional association in education. Its
mission is to provide leadership for the profession, to promote academic
excellence at all educational levels, to provide leadership development for
members, to foster an environment for professional educators.
Sigma Beta Delta is an honor society for business administration, business education, and accounting students. The principles of the Society include wisdom, honor, and the pursuit of meaningful aspirations.
Sigma Tau Delta
An honor society designed to promote the profession of English studies. New
members are inducted into this organization each spring semester.
Student Education Association
The Student Education Association (S.E.A.) is an affiliate of the North Dakota Education Association having the express purpose of involving prospective teachers in a professional organization within the teacher education program.

Campus Crusade
A campus organization with national ties
that celebrates the spiritual development of college and university
students.

Campus Ministry
The purpose of Campus Ministry (C.C.M.) is to give the students
the opportunity to meet and get involved with other students
through social and religious activity. In
addition to the Mass celebrated weekly, C.C.M. has discussion
groups, educational groups, retreats and various Christian
activities.
Chi Alpha
An organization designed to promote the spiritual and social life of the young
people of Dickinson State University by
providing opportunities for worship, fellowship, and evangelism.
Lutheran Campus Ministry
Lutheran Campus Ministry (L.C.M.) is an informal organization serving Lutheran students and any others in worship, fellowship and study. L.C.M. seeks to discover ways of living and sharing in a Christian community. Lutheran pastors advise the group.

Pacesetters
The Pacesetters' organization is intended to help interested students grow
and develop as Christians through regular and meaningful study of the Bible.
Also, the Pacesetters provide occasional opportunities for all interested

Inter-Residence Hall Council
The Council is composed of representatives from each of
the residence halls, including Family Student Housing, as well
as the resident assistants and hall directors. The Council
formulates and carries out a program of recreational and social
events for the residence halls.

Campus Activity Board (C.A.B.) provides an excellent opportunity for involvement and leadership through the programming of campus events.
