Choral Ensembles
The choral ensembles at Dickinson State University consist of the Chorale, Chamber Singers, and daCoda Blue and are conducted by Assistant Professor of Music, Bruce Southard.
Chorale
The Chorale is the primary choral ensemble at DSU and open to all students regardless of their major. The ensemble performs a variety of literature from the Renaissance to the present. The Chorale performs for university functions, community events, annual tours, and concerts. Members of the Chorale find it a wonderful break in the academic day.
Chamber Singers
Chamber Singers is a small select vocal ensemble open to all students by audition. They perform a wide variety of music and perform primarily without accompaniment. Students who participate in this ensemble also participate in Chorale. Chamber Singers meets twice each week.
daCoda Blue
Our vocal jazz ensemble, daCoda Blue is open to all students by audition. This ensemble explores the breadth of the vocal jazz literature and focuses on skills, such as improvisation, that are common to the genre. daCoda Blue performs both unaccompanied and with a rhythm section. Students who participate in this ensemble also participate in Chorale. daCoda meets twice each week.
