Names of Outstanding Seniors Achievement Awards announced

Twenty-two graduating seniors have been nominated by the various academic departments and extended campus at Dickinson State University for the university’s Outstanding Senior Achievement Awards. This annual award program has been coordinated and sponsored by the DSU Alumni Association since its inception in 1981. Each program area could nominate a maximum of two students.

Nominees for the 2005 Outstanding Senior Achievement Awards are:

For the Department of Agricultural and Technical Studies:

• Paul DuBourt, Carrington, N.D., is an agricultural studies major and with a natural resource management minor. His mother is Pearl DuBourt of Carrington, N.D.;

• Spring Turbiville, Buffalo, S.D., is an agricultural studies major with an integrated ranch management concentration. Her parents are Dale and Deb Turbiville of Buffalo, S.D.;

For the Department of Business and Management:

• Pastora Sorensen, Ibarra, Ecuador, is a business administration major with a Spanish minor. Her parents are Jack and Marlene Sorensen of Ibarra, Ecuador;

•Michael Staudinger, Taylor, N.D., is a business administration major with a management minor. His parents are Jim and Bernie Staudinger of Taylor, N.D.;

For the Department of Fine and Performing Arts:

• Charmaine Hibl, Dickinson, is an instrumental music education major. Her parents are Galen and Kathy Hibl of Dickinson, N.D.;

• Lance Rustand, Dickinson, is a choral music education major. His parents are Leon and Lynda Rustand of Dickinson, N.D.;

For the Department of Health and Physical Education:

• Tina Partin, Sidney, Mont., is a double major in elementary education and physical education. Her parents are Lyle and Marilyn Partin of Sidney, Mont.,

• Jace Schillinger, Baker, Mont., is a physical education major with a coaching minor. His parents are Jim and Debi Schillinger of Baker, Mont.;

For the Department of Language and Literature:

• Stephanie Burkhardt, Dickinson, is a double major in English and Spanish with a minor in writing. Her father is Garret and Kristann Burkhardt of Dickinson, N.D.,

• Ashley Weisz, Williston, N.D., is an English major with a minor in writing and leadership studies. Her parents are Frank and Karen Weisz of Williston, N.D.;

For the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science:

• Lindy Hagens, Steele, N.D., is a computer science major with a graphics design minor. Her parents are David and Diana Hagens of Steele, N.D.,

• Cody Lawrence, White Horse, S.D., is a mathematics education major with a coaching minor. His parents are Ross and Debbe Lawrence of White Horse, S.D.;

For the Department of Natural Sciences:

• Kamila Knick, Culbertson, Mont., is a biology major with a minor in chemistry. Her parents are Rick and Kim Knick of Culbertson, Mont.,

• Joshua Steffan, South Heart, N.D., is an environmental health major with minors in chemistry and leadership studies. His parents are Neal and Rhonda Steffan of South Heart, N.D.;

For the Department of Nursing:

• twin sisters, Dana Roloff and Taina Roloff, Powers Lake, N.D., will earn their bachelor’s of science degrees in nursing. Their parents are Lauren and LaDonna Roloff of Powers Lake, N.D.;

For the Department of Social Sciences:

• Eric Braun, Dickinson, N.D., is a double major in history and political science. His father is Pete Braun of Dickinson, N.D. and his mother is Brenda Braun of Bismarck,

• Bradley Kustermann, St. Cloud, Minn., is also a double major in history and political science. His father is Marv Kustermann of St. Cloud, Minn.;

For the Department of Teacher Education:

• Heidi Herold, Dickinson, is a mathematics major with a minor in Spanish. Her parents are Dan and Mary Herold of Dickinson, N.D.,

• Jeramie Schafer, Glen Ullin, N.D., is a double major in composite social science education and English education. His parents are Tim and Gina Schafer of Glen Ullin, N.D.;

For the Office of Extended Campus:

• Connie Hermann, Lemmon, S.D., will earn her bachelor’s of university studies degree. Her parents are LeRoy and Marie Spoering, Bison, S.D.,

• Samuel Towner, Bismarck, N.D., will earn his bachelor’s of science in accounting degree. His spouse is Shawna Towner, and his parents are Jim and Amy Towner of Bismarck, N.D.

The top female and top male Outstanding Achievement Award recipients will be announced at the 2005 Graduate Luncheon sponsored by the Alumni Association to recognize all graduates on Friday, May 13, with the program beginning at 11:45 a.m. in the Student Center ballroom.

Tickets can be purchased at the Alumni/Foundation House, 230 Eighth Ave. West, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, or call 483-2004 for more information before Tuesday, May 10.
