RDT is also known worldwide as a museum and contemporary gallery representing the scope and diversity of modern dance, past and present. Striving to increase an awareness of the art of modern dance, the company is committed to building bridges of understanding that de-mystify the art of dance, making it a meaningful part of our culture. RDT procues a variety of community-based programs and has a long-standing commitment to art-in-education.

“It is such a privilege to be able to host a dance company of this caliber,” said DSU Instructor of Fine and Performing Arts Pattie Carr. “We all benefit from hosting professional dancers and from seeing professional dance.”

During RDT’s week-long residency in North Dakota, the company will spend several days in Bismarck where they will conduct workshops with Bismarck Public Schools, Northern Plains Ballet, University of Mary and Bismarck State College before coming to Dickinson. In Dickinson, RDT will conduct workshops at DSU, Dickinson and Trinity High Schools, ABLE, Inc., and Velocity Dance Studio.

RDT’s residency in North Dakota is sponsored in part by Arts Midwest and the North Dakota council on the Arts.

“We are very grateful to Jan Webb, director of the North Dakota Council on the Arts. She was aware of our efforts to promote dance in North Dakota and was instrumental in orgainzing this residency,” Carr said.
