Event Information

Information for the day of the event:  

1)      Registration will be held in the DSU Student Center from 8 to 9 AM.

a)   Teachers will receive a packet containing schedules of events, maps, name tags, participation ribbons, and Official Science Olympiad pencils, enough for each student.

b)      Make sure your students know their Team Number.

c)       Students MAY NOT switch teams throughout the day.

d)      A team may participate only once in each event.

 

2)      Some of the events require students to build devices ahead of time. The impounding schedule is as follows:

Air Trajectory:               impound between 11:30 – Noon, Student Center Ballroom

Bridge Building:              impound between 11:30 – Noon, Murphy Hall, Room 117

Bungee Drop:                 impound between 12:30 – 1:00, Murphy Hall, Room 213

Compound Machines:      impound by 9 am, Murphy Hall, Room 227

Elastic Launched Glider:   impound by 9 am, Wienbergen Gym

It’s About Time:              impound between 1:30 – 2:00, Murphy Hall, Room 227

Mission Possible:             impound by 9 am, Murphy Hall, Room 117

Robo-Cross:                   impound by 9 am, Student Center Ballroom

Scrambler:                     impound by 9 am, Wienbergen Gym

Simple Machines:            impound by 9 am, Murphy Hall, Room 227

Wheeled Vehicle:            impound by 9 am, Wienbergen Gym

Wright Stuff:                   impound by 9 am, Wienbergen Gym

 

3)      Some events, such as Chemistry Lab, state in the rules that students must bring goggles, test tubes, etc. However, DSU will provide all glassware and lab equipment for all teams. We will also provide goggles for all participants.

 

4)      Food service has resumed in the lower-level of the Student Center so students and coaches may eat at either of the following locations: the snack bar (upper level of the Student Center) 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, prices vary with items OR the cafeteria (lower level of the Student Center) all day. Lunch in the cafeteria is $8.32 for all you can eat.

Please warn your students that the Snack Bar and Cafeteria are cash or credit card only. They do not accept checks.

 

5)      Students and teachers will be allowed to “camp out” in one of the ballrooms in the Student Center.

 

6)      Science Olympiad T-shirts will be for sale from 8:00 - 12:00 in Murphy 213/215. ($10.00)

 

7)      Please park the buses in the furthest spaces in the Wienbergen Parking Lot, located just west of Wienbergen Gym.

 

8)      The Awards Ceremony will start at approximately 4:30 PM in Scott Gym. If you are unable to attend, awards will be mailed to your school.

 

9)      Final scores will not become official until 5:00 PM, March 11, 2015.

 

10)    Remember the key to winning the overall competition is to compete in every event!
