About Us

Built in 1961, and named for longtime librarian Matilda Stoxen, Stoxen Library provides library services to students, faculty, and staff, as well as residents of southwestern North Dakota. With holdings of materials in all formats, including access to a wealth of licensed online databases, the library’s materials collection includes over 100,000 volumes, 10,000 e-books, content from more than 60,000 periodicals, numerous scholarly article databases, and a variety of audiovisual materials, all of which are accessible via the Library’s web page. Stoxen Library is a member of ODIN, the Online Dakota Information Network, and needed research materials not available in the Stoxen Library collections can be obtained via interlibrary loan. Of special note is the Theodore Roosevelt Collection. The staff includes librarians, paraprofessionals, and students. There are areas for collaborative and individual studying. Dickinson State University library patrons can use 35 computers and 10 laptops. The Academic Success Center, Student Support Services, the Writing Center and tutoring are located on the lower level.
