The EH program is in the Department of Natural Sciences and is closely associated with the Biology program, with which it shares many courses. The department also offers major programs in Chemistry and courses in Physics and Geology. Most of the department’s faculty members instruct one or more courses required by the EH program.
The objectives of the environmental health program are as follow:
- To prepare students to understand the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and physics.
- To develop professionals knowledgeable in environmental health, public health, and disease prevention to analyze problems and apply the results to improving the health of the public.
- To use technology to help solve problems and communicate information.
- Prepare students to succeed in environmental health graduate programs and related biological sciences.
- To better understand global environmental health issues and appreciate cultural diversity.
- To understand and further health and wellness knowledge and communicate this knowledge to the public.
