Blue Hawk NAIA Women’s Golf Scholar Athletes Named
Dickinson State University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the 2009 NAIA Women’s Golf Scholar Athletes. Lyndsey Filkowski, a senior, from Dickinson, ND and Staci Moore, also a senior, from Cambridge, Neb. were recently awarded this honor. Each student athlete is nominated by their head coach, must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
Men’s and Women’s Golf Earn Season End DAC Awards
The Dickinson State University Men’s and Women’s Golf Team’s are pleased to announce the All Dakota Athletic Conference Team honorees and post season awards.
On the men’s side Kyle Chan of Richmond, BC and TJ Poulsen of Cody, WY were named to the All DAC Team. Poulsen was also named the Co Most Valuable Player of the DAC and Head Coach Tim Daniel was voted Co-Coach of the Year. Poulsen will be the lone player from the DAC competing at the NAIA National Men's Golf Tournament on May 19-22 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL. Poulsen earned the national tournament invite by winning medalist honors at the NAIA unaffiliated Qualifying Tournament in Sioux Falls, SD on May 1-2.
On the women’s side Kelsey Boedeker of Sheridan, WY and Lindsey Kent-Filkowski of Dickinson, ND were named to the All DAC Team; Kent-Filkowski was also voted Senior Most Valuable Player.
T.J. Paulsen Wins, Teams Place Second and Third
At Rapid City, S.D. Dickinson State University junior T.J. Poulsen came away with a victory at the South Dakota Mines Invitational. The Cody, Wyo., native had the best round of the tournament with a 72 on Sunday and finished it off with a 76 on Monday. “He played well both days, especially Sunday, the first time out,” Daniel said.
The Blue Hawk men’s team finished second and was only six strokes shy of first place, coming up with 316’s both Sunday and Monday to finish with a two-day score of 632.
For the Blue Hawk women sophomore Kelsey Boedeker finished third in the women’s tournament with an 87-90–177 and the team had a third-place finish with 377 on the first day and 384 for the second for a total of 761.
