The Annual Student Juried Art Exhibit opens Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the DSU Art Gallery, Klinefelter Hall. A reception with the artists will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 1-3 p.m. The reception is open to the public and free of charge. Refreshments will be served.
“We encourage everyone to come out and see what our students have created,” said Gregory Walter, DSU Art Gallery director. “We hope that people going to the Theatre production of “Scrooge!” will stop by at the reception and see our student work before going to the play.”
The artwork featured in the exhibit includes drawings, oil and acrylic paintings, photography and ceramics. Some of these pieces will be offered for sale. In addition to student work, there will be a non-juried display of work created by adult class members who are not seeking degrees.
“Artists that are taking classes for personal enrichment rather than for degree completion will have a separate display, as they will not be juried for the awards,” Walter said.
This year’s exhibit will be juried by Jarvis Jahner, assistant professor of Theatre and Communication. Awards will be given for Best of Show and Honorable Mentions.
The DSU Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Friday. Support for the gallery comes from Dickinson State University, private donations and the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which is funded by the state of North Dakota and the National Endowment for the Arts.
