The Dickinson State University Blue Hawks men’s and women’s basketball teams were out and about on Thanksgiving morning, giving a helping hand at the Ramada Inn Grand Dakota Lodge.
“This is a great chance for our players to give back,” men’s Head Coach Ty Orton said. “It was a very enjoyable event and I feel that we had a great opportunity to help improve the holiday for others and our student athletes.”
The Blue Hawks took the opportunity to connect with the Dickinson community and brighten Thanksgiving for others.
“Wonderful event. Our ladies had a great time and really enjoyed helping serve the meals on this festive holiday,” women’s Head Coach Mark Graupe said. “Most of our players were too far from home and thus got to spend Thanksgiving with teammates as well as many people from the Dickinson community.”
The Blue Hawk players helped prepare and package Thanksgiving meals for the Dickinson Community Thanksgiving Meal. This year volunteers delivered about 300 meals, while another 100 were picked up at the hotel. In total, approximately 1,500 meals were prepared.
