CommUniversity 2014 seeks course proposals

Amy Czapiewski, associate director of communications, (701) 483-2595

The Dickinson Area CommUniversity Advisory Committee (DACAC) is seeking proposals from community members who wish to present mini-courses to the local, out-of-school adult public.

Those wishing to apply need to know about the planned subject, but need not be a trained teacher. The courses will be taught in classrooms on the Dickinson State University campus complete with audio-visual and computer projection facilities. The 90 minute class sessions will take place Sunday afternoons in February 2014.

Proposals should indicate:

• the topic of the course

• a brief description, limited to a maximum of three pages, of each of the four class sessions

• a summary of the expertise and experience of the presenter

Proposals may be emailed to or mailed to Dr. Peter Grimes, Department of Language & Literature, Dickinson State University, Dickinson, ND 58601 no later than Friday, Nov. 22.

Proposals will be reviewed by the DACAC and successful applicants will be paid $500 upon completion of the courses. Past courses taught have included topics such as Family Genealogy, the Civil War in North Dakota, and the Santa Fe Trail.

Businesses or individuals wishing to sponsor CommUniversity 2014 may email or call 701-483-2142.
