The Department of Nursing at Dickinson State University and the DSU Nursing Students Association's 2013 Nurse Camp for area 5th and 6th graders will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. – noon on the fourth floor of Klinefelter Hall.
Our goals in offering Nurse Camp are to energize and encourage participants’ interest in future nursing careers. We also hope to spark enthusiasm for science and math courses which will help prepare students for nursing education. During Nurse Camp, students will be exposed to hands-on activities and encouraged to use thinking skills that are required to become a nurse. Areas of nursing practice covered include geriatrics, obstetrics, medical/surgical, emergency room care, critical care, operating room nurse, sports injuries care and nurse educator. We are also excited to have students experience the walk-in display of the “Giant Colon”. Students may also receive an ambulance tour.
There are no costs involved and each participant will receive a free stethoscope and a Nurse Camp t-shirt! Enrollment is limited to 80 participants.
