Coaches
Head Coach - Kristen Fleury
Kristen Fleury is in her 1st season as Head Coach for the Blue Hawks after serving as an assistant coach in 2008 and completing her outstanding playing career. In addition to leading the softball program, Coach Fleury is a defensive specialist and will spend much of her energy imparting her knowledge to the Hawk infielders.
Coach Fleury’s hometown is San Jose, California. She attended nearby West Valley Junior College (Saratoga) from 2003-05 where she twice helped the Vikings claim 3rd place finishes in the state. In 2005, she was named to the All-Coast Conference 2nd team.
Fleury transferred to Dickinson State in 2005, and in two years, she started 90 games at third base for the Blue Hawks. Her .353 career batting average helped DSU to the 2006 and 2007 DAC Championship and DAC Tournament Championships. The Hawks were Region III Runner-up in 2006, and in 2007 they were Region III Champions and ultimately finished in the "Elite 8" at NAIA National Tournament. Fleury was a 1st Team All-DAC selection in both 2006 and in 2007.
Fleury graduated from Dickinson State in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in University Studies with minors in Coaching and Sociology.
Assistant Coach - Jamie Jung
Jamie Jung is entering his 4th season as an assistant coach for the Blue Hawks. Coach Jung will focus his attention on working with the infielders, along with recruiting.
A native of New England, North Dakota, Coach Jung graduated from Dickinson State in 2001 earning his undergraduate degree in biology with minors in chemistry and physiology. He is no stranger to DSU athletics as he played basketball for the Blue Hawks in 1996-1999 and he has been with the women’s softball team as it has excelled to one of the top collegiate softball programs in the nation.
In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Jung is in charge of all on-campus student activities.
Assistant Coach - Hennessy Rodriguez
Hennessy Rodriguez is entering her 2nd year as Dickinson State University Assistant Women ’s Softball Coach and she will focus her attention with the outfielders and recruiting.
A native of Sacramento, California, Rodriguez was a stand out softball and basketball player for American River Community College. In fall of 2005, she decided to continue her athletic career at DSU and transferred after her stellar career at ARC.
Coach Rodriguez played outfield for the Blue Hawks in 2006- 2007. In 2006 and ‘07 she helped DSU claim Dakota Athletic Conference Championships and DAC Tournament Championships. Coach Rodriguez was also a member of the 2007 team that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament, the first such appearance in school history.
A 2008 graduate of Dickinson State, Rodriguez earned her undergraduate degree while majoring in biology and she also earned coaching minor. Along with assisting the women’s softball team, Coach Rodriguez is an assistant coach in women’s basketball and she works part-time as an athletic trainer at DSU.
Coach Rodriguez resides in Dickinson with her dog Payton and cat Jane.
Assistant Coach - Amanda Mickey
Amanda Mickey is entering her 1st season as an assistant coach for Dickinson State University. Coach Mickey will work alongside Coach Rodriguez and the outfielders.
A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Amanda has just finished a tremendous two-year career for the Blue Hawks. In the fall of 2008, she transferred from top ranked Mt. San Antonio Junior College (Calif.). While at Mt. SAC, Coach Mickey won two state championships with the Mounties. Coach Mickey played outfield for the Blue Hawks in 2008 and 2009. While receiving All Conference recognition in 2008, she helped the Blue Hawks to a 3rd place finish at the NAIA national tournament in 2009.
A 2009 graduate of DSU, Amanda earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching. She is currently taking pre-nursing classes with plans to pursue a degree in nursing.
Coach Mickey resides in Dickinson with her brother James, and two dogs Jeter and Riley.
