Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a student living in campus housing and expecting a package, how do I retrieve it?
For security purposes, the DSU Mail Room now holds all student packages or anything with tracking. Please show valid DSU ID card to retrieve your package.

Letter mail will be picked up and distributed into individual student mailboxes. Two days a week, package notices will be placed into student mailboxes with instruction on how to retrieve packages.

When is mail sent/received?
Outgoing USPS letter mail deadline is 2 p.m.  Blue drop outside by May Hall Loop, or letter drop located in DSU Mail Room entry.

Outgoing package deadline is 9 a.m. (Delivery drivers pick up packages in the mailroom daily between 9 – 10 a.m. – anything dropped after will go out the next business day)

Mail is held at the Post Office for Saturday deliveries and is not sent to DSU until Monday.

I'm a student, how can I pay for postage?
The DSU Mail Room now sells stamps and a small variety of envelopes but only accepts cash or checks. Packages (or anything over 13oz) would need a prepaid label to send. There are several options for students who need a letter or package sent. The DSU Mail Room is available for assistance with your mailing needs.

The University Store also sells postage stamps and a larger variety of envelopes. They are able to take credit or debit payment.

The mailroom has a scale if mail is needed to be weighed. For packages, you may go online to websites to pay for postage: FedEx.com  /  UPS.com  /  USPS.com  (enter a credit card to pay).

What about international mail?
International mail can also be sent out at an additional cost – packages need to include an International/Customs Form which the DSU mailroom can provide. Typically postage is paid online for all international packages.

How do I get a mailbox?
Mailboxes in the DSU Mail Room are for Faculty and Staff only.  All students in DSU housing should be assigned a dorm or apartment mailbox by their Resident Director. Please see RD for box number and combination directions
