Registering your Vehicle

An individual must register for a parking permit if they wish to park on campus. Register at the Business Affairs office (May Hall room 107). Parking permits are $40 and are issued at the beginning of the fall semester.

Temporary parking permits may be obtained for any vehicle that will be parked on campus temporarily.

Refunds are prorated on a semester basis. To obtain a refund, the individual must present the current parking permit to the Business Affairs office.

Parking Areas

Employee parking areas are marked with signs. Student employees may not park in these areas.

Handicapped parking is noted with signs and blue curb (must have valid handicapped and DSU parking permits displayed).

Open parking is noted with yellow curb.

Visitor parking is noted with signs.

The Pulver Hall west parking lot is NOT to be used by students or DSU employees.

A vehicle may be towed at owner’s expense without prior notice for purposes of snow removal if the vehicle is parked in an area not designed for overnight parking.

Parking Penalties

Fines

  • Fines for general violations of parking regulations on campus are $10.
  • Fines for visitor zone violations are $20.
  • Fines for handicapped zone violations are $100.

A fine may be reduced by 50% if it is paid by the end of the third school day following the day the violation was issued.

Appeals

Appeals on parking violations must be brought to the Business Affairs office within three school days of issue. After three school days have passed, no violations will be waived.

Unpaid violations

Unpaid violations will result in a hold on transcripts until the fine is paid in full. An individual with an unpaid violation may have his or her vehicle towed without prior notice at the owner’s expense.

Towing

A vehicle in a no-parking zone is subject to towing without prior notice at the owner’s expense.

A vehicle may be towed at owner’s expense without prior notice for purposes of snow removal if the vehicle is parked in an area not designed for overnight parking.

Guest Parking

All campus property requires a permit with the following exceptions:

  • Visitor designated zones which have permanent signs.
  • Event parking areas that will have temporary sandwich board event parking in place.
  • The small parking lot to the south of the Student Center across from the old Foundation building on 8th is also open parking.

Visitor Passes

Visitor passes can be picked up in the Security Office in Stickney Hall Room 116.
If the Security Office is closed, passes can be acquired from the Office of Business Affairs in May Hall Room 107 or by calling 701-290-1068.
