What is TRiO?

The Student Support Services program is one of three TRiO programs established by Congress in 1964. These programs are federally funded through competitive grants at over 1,200 colleges, universities, and agencies throughout the U.S.

The TRiO program provides services at no cost to students who are at least one of the following:

first generation learners (neither parent graduated with a bachelor’s degree)

from low-income families (according to federal income guidelines), or

have a documented disability

Our primary role is to promote success by building confidence and self-worth through partnerships with historically underrepresented student populations.

Our mission is to provide individual and holistic academic, cultural, and personal development from entry to graduation. We foster passion and engagement to empower our students and help them accomplish their personal and professional goals.
