We are sad to see Mic go, but happy to have Jen returning for two more seasons. We are all very proud of them both."
Blue Hawk Volleyball Season Comes To Bitter Sweet End In DAC Tournament Semi-Finals

Blue Hawks Finish 3rd Despite Being Selected to Finish 6th in Pre-Season Power Poll
|
The Blue Hawk Volleyball Teams Season came to an end on Wednesday night when they lost to eventual DAC Tournament Champion Black Hills. The Hawks played a bit timid at times and lost by the scores of 18-25, 20-25, and 21-25. The Black Hills team seemed to have the slight edge playing at home and returning all but one starter from their previous 2008 team.
Junior Karen Almeida led the team with 8 kills, 4 blocks, hitting percentage of .533 and was followed closely by Senior Micaela Parker with 7 kills, 3 blocks, and had a hitting percentage of .294. The setter combo of Myshada Rosado and Whitley Abrahamson resulted in 13 and 10 assists respectfully. Senior Libero Bree-Anna Slykhuis led the team with 12 digs and had one service ace.
Coach Platt had this to say, “This was a hard loss for our team to swallow, especially since we split with them during the regular season. It just came down to experience and home court advantage tonight. Their players have been together for a few years, returned their entire team from last year except for one, had five starting seniors, and have been in this tournament position before. We relatively have a younger team, many new players, and have not been in this position before. It was great experience for us for next season when we get just about everyone back again. It is hard to say good bye to our only two seniors Bree-Anna Slykhuis and Micaela Parker, but we realize how strong we are going to be for next season. We reached all of our goals this season and that is a great feeling; double our conference and overall season wins, finish in the top three of the DAC, and win our first round set of the DAC Tournament. This season was a huge improvement over last season and our team is already excited about the improvements that we can make for the 2010 season.”
