West River Teacher Center

The West River Teacher Center, located in room 119 of May Hall at Dickinson State University, is an integral part of the Department of Teacher Education.

The Center is a member of the North Dakota Teacher Center Network and provides professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers, administrators, and support staff in eight counties of Southwestern North Dakota. It also serves as a valuable resource for Dickinson State University teacher education students.

Services provided by the Center include staff development programs; resource materials; distance learning; professional development graduate credit courses; updates on accreditation changes; curriculum enhancement; guest speakers, programs for students; newsletters; and referral services.

The West River Teacher Center and RESP have been in collaboration since 2003 and share a vision to provide enhanced educational services to all educators in the area through the January and Fall In-Services, summer classes, study groups and content meetings. These services give educators the tools to assist in effective educational practices, improve their professional lives as well as strive to reach their highest and greatest potential as educators.

Benefits to Center members include: free use of the Ellison die-cut machine, curriculum and resource collection materials that include a variety of print materials, CD’s and learning kits that are available for checkout. The Stoxen Library resources are also available for area teachers.

The West River Teacher Center hours are 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday -Friday.
