Dr. Craig Whippo graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in Agriculture from Purdue University and from Indiana University with PhD in Plant Sciences.
He started working at DSU in 2011. He teaches General Biology, Botany, Scientific Reading and Writing, Genetics, Biometry, and Biochemistry.
He is interested in developing opportunities for undergraduate research. His students have conducted research on the habitat associations of small mammals in western North Dakota, studied the impact of fugitive road dust on crop physiology, and conducted genome-wide association studies in Arabidopsis. Dr. Whippo also manages the University greenhouse, and curates the herbarium.
Dr. Whippo serves on the Prairie Public’s Community Advisory Board, and on the Board of Directors of the Theodore Roosevelt Nature and History Association.
