Health Insurance
DSU pays for single or family health insurance coverage. This begins the first day of the month after your employment date. Enrollment in health insurance coverage must take place within 31 days of your hire date to receive a waiver of an existing medical condition. Group hospital, surgical, medical protection and prescription coverage are provided.

Life Insurance
DSU pays for the basic life insurance benefit. Coverage begins the first day of the month after your employment date. The University provides $7,000 term insurance. You may purchase additional term life insurance for yourself, your spouse and dependents.

Cancer, Intensive Care, and Short Term Disability Insurance
If desired, cancer, intensive care, and short-term disability insurance are available to you through payroll deduction. Coverage begins the first day of the month after your employment date.
Dental Insurance
If desired, dental coverage is available for you and your family through payroll deduction. This begins the first day of the month after your employment date.

Long-Term Disability Insurance (TIAA/Standard)
DSU pays for long-term disability insurance coverage upon your employment. It provides income (60-70% of annual salary up to a maximum of $10,000 per month) for disabilities lasting six months or longer. Income will be reduced by other disability payments.
Long-Term Disability Insurance (NDPERS)
*Administrators & Staff Only
DSU pays for long-term disability insurance coverage upon your employment. It provides income (25% of final average salary) for disabilities lasting 12 months or longer. Income will not be reduced by other disability payments.

Workforce Safety Insurance
DSU pays for workforce safety insurance coverage upon employment. It provides compensation for job related injury or death and medical expense coverage for job related injury or illness.
